Master Thesis

The Master’s thesis carries 12 ECTS and is considered the final exam of the program.

Students choose a mentor who is an expert in  a field related to the topic of the thesis and who participates in the Program. In cooperation with this mentor, the student produces a draft thesis proposal, and must attain the mentor’s consent on the thesis topic. Students submit a master’s thesis application at the university they are enrolled, according to the respective university regulations.

The student must demonstrate good scientific practice, academic integrity, and originality in composing their thesis, which should be written in English and should be between 25,000 and 30,000 words.

The thesis is defended before a Defense Committee composed of three members, two of which will be from two different partner universities. The student’s mentor cannot reside over the Committee. The Committee will base its decision on the quality of the thesis and the student’s oral presentation.

Upon successful defense of their Master’s thesis, the student will be awarded a Master of Arts degree (MA) according to the regulations at the university where the student is enrolled.
